Our Services

RLC’s professional engineering consulting services provide innovative solutions for our clients including planning, feasibility studies (site selection, utility interconnections, cost estimating), detailed design, interconnection applications, permitting, and project management services for electrical substations, transmission lines, power generation facilities and industrial plants.

Power System Studies

We are widely recognized as a leading industry provider of power system studies in the Northeast. Many challenges are facing the power system of tomorrow. Owners of transmission and distribution systems must find effective ways to meet mandated reliability standards which is critical for the security of the electric grid. Owners must be open to integrating small renewable resources and other non-transmission alternatives as well as traditional grid solutions into their systems. Power source and transmission developers must be able to put forward proposals that satisfy system operator’s and regulator’s requirements for a reliable and safe energy system. The electric grid of the future will look different than that of the past, and more stakeholders will likely be involved. Our Power System Studies group has decades of electric system operation and planning experience necessary to effectively tackle this myriad of challenges.

Power Delivery

Our substation and transmission facility design services range from 4 kV to 345 kV. We have extensive experience with substation and switchyard design for transmission and distribution systems. Our experience also expands across both renewable and non-renewable applications, including wind and solar farms, battery storage facilities, transmission and distribution line systems, protection and control systems, automation and control systems, small generator facility studies, cost estimating and PRC study work.

Power Generation

Our engineers have extensive experience in the power generation industry and have played a key role in the development of over 4 GWs of solar, wind, and energy storage throughout the Northeast and Mid–Atlantic United States. We provide engineering solutions for complex power systems that serve a variety of energy related technologies in the development of renewable energy.

Power Engineering

Our Power Engineering group is comprised of key employees with extensive energy auditing backgrounds and Certified Energy Management (CEM) experience. The team brings decades of design, cost estimating and project management engineering experience. We connect rapidly evolving power management opportunities with commercial and industrial consumers of electrical and thermal energy. Our team combines its unique understanding of this environment with institutional and industrial clients’ needs for efficient energy use and improved energy security. For the energy consumer, this includes Combined Heat and Power (CHP) studies and designs, Distributed Generation (DG) installations and energy management solutions.
